So, I'm really proud of my really sweet alliteration, but I'm really excited for my Banana Nut Roll that's cooling right now. I kind of freaked out when I realized I didn't have enough cream cheese, so instead of a cream cheese filling and a cream cheese icing, there's just a thin layer of filling and I'll probably do a glaze or something on top. But this was really complicated to make, and I hope it turns out really well. It smells amazing, but we'll see about the taste and texture. Anyway, besides, there's the cats!
Hopefully none of you will get squeamish, cause I think this is really cool, so I'm gonna talk about it.
So for my biology class, we have these cats that we're dissecting as we go through the different anatomy units, and this week we just skinned ours. Lindsey and I were sweet skinners, and we skinned our cat in an hour and were really proud of ourselves. The cat looked very skinny without the skin, and the skin looked really weird but we were so proud of ourselves that we were waving this furry, black and white skin around. Anyway, our cat was pretty good, female and didn't really smell that bad, but some of the others stank. There's a pregnant cat, which I'm really excited for, cause we're doing the reproductive unit first, since we already studied it, and I can't wait to actually see how well formed the kittens are. Oh, and it had an interesting layer of fat on its stomach...it was cool, cause it didn't look like the normal fat, but had a different texture and a lot more veins and arteries. There was also an extremely obese cat which was literally twice the size of ours, although ours was probably one of the skinniest--it just looked more like a wild cat than a house pet--not really stick thin, just lean. So there was the obese cat which really smelled and had lots of disgusting fat on it which had to be cut through, although then you don't have to worry about cutting the muscle, but still....gross. There was also a cat that our intern thought might have had cancer, cause there was an extreme amount of fat in some places, but it wasn't obese. It was again a different texture, except not as cool as that of the pregnant cat, more fatty looking and gross. Hmmm...anything else about the cats.....the bad thing is that the smell can kind of get attached to you, not necessarily your clothes, but your hands, and then the smell is mixed with that of latex, which is not pleasant. Anyway, more updates about the cats later, and pictures perhaps if I can figure out how to get them up.
We went birthday shopping for Abigail yesterday--that is going to be one happy three-year-old...she's so spoiled.
Anyway, I am rather jealous of the Hari Krishna attendees, and really want to go next year. Hmm...oh yes, spring break! For the first weekend, we're going to Rachael and Neil's, and we're sooo excited for that, and then we're leaving on Monday from there and going to the Potowatome Lodge somewhere in Indiana, where we'll stay for a couple of days...it looks like a lot of fun. Then we're coming home, cleaning (ugh) and then on the 12th, Rosalind and I are going to the Best of EFY, which is in Detroit, and involves two classes, a dinner, and a dance. Anyway, Dad is home and I must go to check on my banana nut roll and then we're having family home evening.
