So, today was crazy---lots of church meetings and stuff and then visiting/home teaching then a tiny bit of sleep, then visiting teaching fireside, then ward prayer. After that Harriet and I went to Ruth and Jordan's for cinnamon rolls and some fun time hanging out away from the dorms and Harriet's roommate drama. We think we're going to try to room in the spring if I stay and maybe summer if I end up staying then too---but Naomi is going to Vienna in the winter, so Harriet might actually room with us then! It would be lots of fun.

Tonight we just got back from Ruth and Jordan's and there was a big gourd sitting outside Harriet's door! It had a kind of cool love-ish poem on it but it said to return it in order to play the game or dance the dance or whatever it was. (oh, and it was from my FHE brothers, coincidentally). So we wrote a reply on it and ran it over to their door--except their door was OPEN and we were just going to put it down and knock then run down into the basement! Except just as Harriet was setting the gourd down, a boy kind of appeared in front of the door, and she dropped the gourd and ran and I squeaked, "Oh no!" and we booked it out and down the stairs. So we were waiting all night for a reply (standing on a balcony above their floor so we could see if they left) and they didn't, so we got our friend Jeff to slip a note under their door that said, "P.S. Reply, fools". Then when we were standing outside we saw them wandering around, but don't know if they actually did something. But it was a very exciting experience!

Anyway, I don't really want to go to school tomorrow cause I have soooo much to do--but after tomorrow I won't have as much. I'm looking forward to it!

We're Rockin' It Out....

There have been no posts for two days because I've gotten home very late and I was already in bed when I remembered--so I kind of wrote a little in my journal instead. So, last night we had our ward talent show! It was a ton of fun! A few of my roommates and I (plus Caitlin, our neighbor, who is pretty much our roommate--seriously. we're thinking of putting her name on the chore chart) did a Monty Python skit (the one where they all talk about how poor they are) and it was very funny!!!We borrowed jackets and ties from our friends and one of them turned up some pretty interesting stuff! Starla and I are sporting two of his jackets and ties (Starla's jacket was pretty crazy, you can't see it very well, and mine was pin-striped! But at the beginning of the evening, I thought I had a pretty crazy outfit--but then looking back, I really, really liked it!! Some more...

The mansion that we had the talent show at was INCREDIBLE. I have never seen anything like it. It was the house of the in-laws of one of our bishopric and it had 4 or 5 floors.....CRAZY. It was decorated like a museum...I think that's what it's kind of become. But seriously, you know those old museum like houses? Exactly that. It reminded me of a mix between Rhett and Scarlett's mansion and the Governor's mansion in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie (seriously....full size portraits, swords on the wall, everything).

On Thursday, Starla and I were in the kitchen making food I think, and our roommates were playing music in preparation for a dinner date they were having, and all of their cooking stuff was laid out on the table, so...........

Yeah......it's like that a lot around here......

I FOUND IT!

So, I found the post that I wrote a few days ago that disappeared...it was in the listings of posts but it wouldn't publish when i wanted it too. Anyway, right now I'm sitting in the laundry room and so I decided to try to figure out how to get this---I finally just copied and pasted it. Anyway, this is a chronicle of last....Saturday, I think? yes, this was saturday...anyway, it is just a little bit of the crazy stuff that we sometimes do as college freshman...all in one night. Here goes!!

I don't really want to write a lot, but I'm putting up some pictures, so there will be a few captions:

A few of us put on hoodies and ran around campus and Helaman Halls with "wands" and cursing people with Harry Potter curses--it was pretty hilarious....

Then we came back for the "gallon challenge": the same apartment of boys that's doing "Roommate Idol" (plus a few more) all decided to see if they could down a gallon of milk in an hour (which is supposed to be physically impossible). None of them actually made it, though a few of them would have if they had taken it more slowly in the last 20 minutes.....needless to say, they all threw up. It was really fun because a bunch of our ward was there, and the boys did it like another tv show---interviews and all!

After that, some of us that were Harry Pottering early went to campus and played around with cameras, the statues, and random art sculptures...it was pretty fun. Then we went and sat under a big fir tree for an hour or so....until the sprinklers came on.

The pictures of the last two parts didn't copy and I don't feel like goign and finding them...but it's okay, you saw some of the most exciting events of the night :)
Once again, i am typing when i should be in bed. and i still haven't uploaded those pictures. but i promise....they're coming. and some of my roommates and i are doing a really, really, really funny monty python skit for our ward talent show on friday, and i'm going to see if i can upload a video of it....cause that would be fun for you to see!!! today i didn't get sleepy in civ!!! my roommate was sitting behind me playing with my hair though, and for some reason that made me concentrate better...so then i started thinking what it would be like to hire a professional hair-player and what my teachers woudl do if they came with me to every class....i'd be like the deaf people that have interpreters in every class...and then i realized that i should have slept more during the night because i was thinking about professional hair-players instead of concentrating on random stuff from the Odyssey. anyway, although i haven't typed very much, i've at least thought about this for five minutes, so i'm going to go. and i'm serious about that comment stuff....i'll withdraw all comments on other blogs AND sunday emails! (maybe...maybe about that email part....although i do like the emails that i get on sunday....i'm very excited to check it on sunday) anyway, pretend that i'm threatening with serious threats!!!!

i'm going to go to bed like right now, but i need to write something. i gave blood today!!! actually, it was kinda scary because we were sitting in line waiting to go get the blood drawn and everything, and we were right in front of the chairs---then one of our friends (who was doing it right then) started to turn really pale and he looked like he was going to throw up---then his muscles all clenched up and he couldn't really move! it was so scary and he was obviously in a lot of pain. but his roommate gave him a blessing right there (which was so cool to witness! in the big, loud Garden Court with everything going on, it was incredible how you could feel the Spirit right there just watching the blessing happen--cause we couldn't hear anything he was saying) anyway, he started to relax a little bit after that, and he eventually was able to kind of walk home after a while. it was very scary though!! and then i had to go give blood, which i'd never done before, after watching my friend go through that!

anyway, i was very good at it though! i filled the bag in 4 minutes and 37 seconds (which was apparently really fast--the guy in the white lab coat said so) and i'm the fastest that i've talked to so far!! it was really cool and nice to feel like we all did something to save other peoples' lives!

then we had FHE tonight and had a little lesson then made paper boats then raised them down the stream by Heritage (and mine would have won if we had discounted the waterfall and the rock-throwing-cheating boys...)

anyway, it was a good day, so bed!!
oh my gosh.....last night i did a post with lots of pictures chronicling my activities the night before....and it's not here.......it may take a while before I can bring myself to do it again....although since i have to write every day....it may only be till later today. sad....................
I don't really want to write a lot, but I'm putting up some pictures, so there will be a few captions:

Football and Homework

So, it's been a pretty good day so far! I slept in for a while, then got up and make chocolate chip pancakes for a few of my roommates--they were delicious. BYU is playing Wyoming right now, but instead of going to the game, cause we have so much homework, we all stayed home. Right now, Ashley, Starla and I are in the kitchen working on homework, listening to the game on the radio. This is the score right now!!

It's pretty amazing! So far, between this game and last week's, BYU has scored 100 POINTS to zero!! It's actually pretty cool to listen to the game on the radio. I already know more of the players' names just by listening to it, and I think it's cool that the announcer calls all other players by their last names, but quarterback Max Hall is always referred to as "Max"...it's cool! So we're having fun listening to the game and getting our work done at the same time.

So far I've finished my personal response to Black Orpheus and my 4 page personal narrative on my tree. Today, we opened the windows in our kitchen and a nice fall breeze has been blowing in so I put on a hoodie, put my hair in two braids and I'm wearing my Cabela's hat! (Our neighbors asked how that game had been, and I was like..."I didn't go...I just like to dress like I did!") Anyway, it's been a great Saturday so far and I'm feeling very productive. Starla and Ashley just left to go take half hour naps, but I'm on a roll! --so I'm going to keep working and listening to the game!
So, I really want to go to bed instead of post, but....five minutes a day. So today I went to Lagoon with Jordan, Ruth, Amy, and Jordan's mom and brothers, and it was a bunch of fun! It was a fun little park with some fun rides! We all felt a bit sick on the way out, but I think we all survived. It was a nice day for it and fun to go on the rides at night! Then I came home and played some games with some people...we were kind of heading back when the sprinklers turned on on the grassy hill across from Whitney, and it turned into a big "slide-down-the-hill" almost ward party...seriously, about half our ward was there getting soaked and having fun sliding down the hill. Then I came home, had a hot shower (very rare these days) and sat around with my roommates talking and staying up too late. It was a fun day overall, but I'm glad that tomorrow is Saturday and I can sleep in and then get all my homework done!

There's football game tomorrow again (Wyoming this time) but I don't know if I want to go. I seriously feel like I just went to a football game yesterday (actually a week ago) and I've already had a very exciting game and apparently Wyoming won't be much of a fight. I'll probably check the game every now and then and then if it's looking exciting I'll head over at half time. But I have lots more writing homework to get done tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. anyway, I"m very tired and that's five minutes, so good night!

Friday, September 19, 2008

Okay, if I'm going to post all the time, you have to comment on what I say--otherwise I'll stop posting. Actually, I probably won't cause I have to for my writing class, but I'll not be happy! Anyway, today was a pretty good day, I think (I have difficulties remembering my days). I turned in my Civ paper, tried to take a nap and failed, had a very stressful 10 minute walk/run to the Maeser Building but arrived exactly on time, learned Greek, came home to study outside, talked to Mary Beth for an hour or so under my tree, went to the Cremery, saved 60 cents because we brought our own bags (thanks Mom and Dad!!), came home and talked to several family members in the course of trying to figure out how to cook chicken, cleaned the kitchen, made some delicous Chicken Crescent Rolls, had some boys over to eat them and watch Supernatural, was surprised by the new twist in the plot, went over to Young and almost fell asleep while about 25 people were playing a very raucous game, literally did fall asleep while playing Egyptian Ratscrew, went outside and sat under my tree with friends, got a few back massages, watched a boy apartment's version of American Idol called "Roommate Idol", felt bad for the roommate voted off, then came home, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on the delicious bread I just bought, and am currently thinking of how comfortable my bed will be and what an amazing run on sentence this is.

And since I'm sure you're wondering what Roommate Idol is, I'll give you a run down. So, there's a boy's apartment that kind of just started it as a little game amongst themselves. They all get three votes and they vote for the best roommate of the week. And then at midnight, they have a "broadcasted" episode out on their front "porch" thing. If you've seen American Idol, it's a lot like that, without the judges...it's basically the ceremony you see at the end of these reality compitition shows where someone gets voted off. A big crowd gathers on the porch to watch! They have an M.C. from another apartment and a camera man that holds one of those little wheelie vacuums on his shoulder and moves around getting different "shots" while the M.C. uses the vacuum extensions as a microphone! (I should get pictures at next week's). We've had quite an upset the last few weeks! Bob, the obvious favorite, was voted off last week, and then Nate was voted off this week---quite a surprise for both of them! Sean, Sam, Chris, and Ben are still safe, but who knows what will happen in the next week! (haha, Sam was stressed out all day--he's the one that started this--and he was like, "Elise, I'm so worried I'll be voted off Roommate Idol!" It was funny! Anyway, I must go to bed now

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Tonight I went to go to Black Orpheus as part of my writing class, and I HATED it....I even tried to fall asleep sometime in the middle but I couldn't get comfortable enough...it was very sad. But my evening got better when I went to go play games and hang out--it was a lot of fun and relieved some of the frustration that I had at my paper! (which I am almost done with by the way--I'm sitting in the basement with my laundry--I would rather be in bed, but let's face it.....I NEEDED to do laundry--I seriously go as far as I can with laundry and then when I sort through it to put in the washer, I'm like, "wow, I forgot I had that!" or "oh yeah, I remember when I wore that like 3 weeks ago!"---no joke---anyway, I'm tired, but I am going to have some clean clothes! Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the picture post yesterday...it took a lot out of me :( But I'm going to Lagoon with Ruth and Jordan on Friday and I'm sooo excited! I love rollercoasters! oh wait......do you guys have another person going? cause threesomes sometimes don't work on rollercoasters...and i'm not gonna be stuck being the odd one out sitting with the weird person that will get annoyed when I scream very loudly! Anyway...I need to know about that! But I really hope that's been five minutes, cause I'm tired and can't really think of anything else to say. I'm excited for the weekend--Sunday is now my favorite day of the week! In high school, it was always Friday cause you get a little bit of school and then the amazing feeling that it's the weekend and then you go play! I still love that, except that on Fridays in high school, you couldn't hang out with your friends...you basically lazed around the house all day. Here, you go to church with your friends and then hang out with them later--wholesome activities and delicious food! It's wonderful! And I really work not to do homework on Sundays, so I don't have to think about school either (other than the fact that I have to go to school the next day). Anyway, that can be five minutes! (i think i was at least thinking about it for five minutes)

Oops....

THANK YOU FOR THE PACKAGE! IT MADE MY DAY!!! I didn't know about it until I was on facebook and my friend Brad got on chat and was like, "You have a package!" and then I was sooooooo excited!!! (And it's a good thing you sent bandaids--especially Batman ones--and neosporin, because I've suddenly become much more accident prone). Here is a recent list: the big leg injury, stabbed my back with the corner of a cabnet door, burned my neck with a curling iron, hurt my wrist in my sleep, ran into the doorknob with my elbow, got a crazy random sore throat thing, bought throat spray for the throat thing then dropped it on my toe, and something else that we can't remember.

Anyway, throat story: so....my throat muscle (or so it feels) are doing this really weird thing...when I'm singing or laughing (so this happens a lot) the muscles in the left side of my throat (like, by my voice box area...back of my throat down a bit) clench up really, really hard and it chokes off whatever I'm saying or laughing....and it hurts! It really hurts then and is mostly sore for the rest of the time...but not like I'm sick...like I hurt it. (I just realized...could I have strained my voice somehow? I haven't really done any hardcore singing very much, although we do sing a lot...but lately I've been going tunnel singing and we had choir practice--I don't know, but Rosalind, can you ask Corlyn?)

Anyway, so I went to buy some throat spray at the Cremery and ended up getting some of that numbing stuff--the thing is, I'm not supposed to use it for more than 2 days..and if it keeps hurting than i'm supposed to see a doctor! (or so the bottle says) Anyway, Rosalind can you ask Corlyn?!?

So, I got this stuff...then we had an interesting time spraying it into my mouth...we don't really know how much of it actually got anywhere...we'll see what happens! Right now it feels fine, but we'll see how it is tomorrow. Anyway, we have some pretty fun pictures of Starla spraying it into my mouth and using the back of a fork as a tongue depressor.

Monday, September 15, 2008

I've decided that that writing style in that last post will be how I write my personal narrative. Just kidding. So, it's very late at night and my roommates and I had an excellent plan of how to work on our papers and to watch a movie at the same time: half an hour with the movie and then some time on the paper. Well, we watched The Count of Monte Cristo; needless to say, we didn't stop the movie once. About 30 minutes in, Starla said, "We should pause it soon," and I said, "Just one more minute..." And then we never said anything about our papers until the movie was over. Oops. Anyway, right now I'm actually very awake and contemplating working some on my paper--but I didn't get much sleep last night and to go to bed before midnight would be very smart. But I am writing a post for all of you! Because I am just that good....

Anyway, tonight we had our first FHE and it was fun! We already kind of knew our FHE brothers (well, I did anyway) so we were able to just have fun. I made applesauce bars which turned out excellently but we didn't offer the boys seconds when they were done....we're a little selfish that way. Tonight while we were watching the movie, Starla and Ashley and I finished off Ruth's amazing pie that she had made for dinner yesterday--Lemon Truffle! It was very good! Anyway, right now I'm sitting in our kitchen and wondering why it is so hot in our apartment.

Today I was studying under my tree when who should walk by me but Amy Collyer! She was on her way to work in the Conference Center (and I think she was planning on studying when she got there early) but instead we talked outside for about 45 minutes, then I invited her in for some amazing pie--then she left and I was almost accidently late for class. Anyway, it was very good to see her! And now I really must be going so I can decide whether to work on my paper or go to bed (I think I'll go to bed).

Sunday, September 14, 2008

So, I don't really have much to write about today (that I can think of), mostly because I'm very tired and want to go to bed, but I need to write in my five-minutes-thing! So, today I slept in until 11:30!! It was crazy, but it was the first time I've slept in here and was very nice! And then I went to the football game--we played UCLA, supposedly the toughest/best game of the season...and we won 59-0!!! It was amazing! It was a very fun game....anyway, then I came home and worked outside on my paper for a while and got it mostly planned out...kind of. Then, I ate dinner at Young Hall :) and then I went to BYU HumorU (stand up comedy) which was really funny!!!! Then I went back to Young Hall and we played game with people (our trick, when we only have 3 or 4 people is to play the loudest game we can and people will eventually all drift in). So that was lots of fun. Now I'm sitting on my couch next to my roommate and we're both on our computers. Then I'm going to straigthen my hair and then I'm going to go to bed. Tomorrow I'm going to go to church. Then I'm going to go to choir practice (my roommate's the choir director!). Then I'm going to go to our hall meeting. Then I'm going to go to the end of Young Hall's hall meeting, cause they're having brownies. Then I'm going to come home and probably have fun and relax and maybe but probably not sleep. Then I'm going to make dinner for family. Then we're going to eat it. Then I'm going to Ward Prayer. Then I will probably hang out with people. Then I will go to bed. Then I will wake up, and start another week at school. And now it's been 5 minutes.

Friday, September 12, 2008

So, my morning was kind of tired and grumpy, but i just had a half hour nap and i feel very rejuvenated! i'm excited for the fact that it's friday, and even the fact that i have three unwritten papers looming over my head can't dampen my spirits now! (at least, not for the next 15 minutes) I am SO excited for the weekend, and for my chance to sleep in on Saturday! (it will be the first time I will have slept in since i've been here--i can't wait!) i'm also very excited for church on sunday, cause we're back with our ward again. I just had a cheeseblast and some rootbeer that i've been saving for like a week, and tonight I'm having the other half of the delicious footlong that I bought yesterday from subway (which i suddenly started craving around dinner time)--I'm so good at rationing my food!

So, the first few weeks i was here, i was so worried that i wouldn't have enough money for food, so i was rationing it very carefully...and then i found out that i can't have more than 100 dollars on my meal plan, so i've been spending and eating well (and varying my diet--the first week, i had cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and free food if i could manage it for dinner) But every time i go to the cremery, i look longingly at the meat section and i'm excited to be able to use some of my carefully saved up money to make a good dinner on sunday!

Anyway, i really do need to study cause i have class in an hour and i have lots to get done. oh, p.s.i learned in my student development class that the prime time to study is within the 12 hours since you got up in the morning, and after that your cognitive abilites start decreasing by a lot. Which is very difficult for some students (in some very difficult programs here) to manage, but i've really been trying to still have all my homework done by 7 or 7:30 at night---which makes me very happy!

Anyway, i'm off to study!

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Well, I've been thinking about my topic--should I write about the other one or should I write about my tree? Cause that's a lot more unique than the non-LDS community one--what do you think? I'm also still having trouble coming up with ideas for my Civ paper and my BOM paper--and I need to start my Civ paper tonight! hmmm, I'm trying to think if anything exciting has happened lately. Last night I tried to make the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and they kind of worked but kind of didn't! They didn't get a nice round muffin top (the best part), but they just rose a couple of millimeters above the pan and then just stayed there with a flat top! What did I do wrong? Cause the inside was perfect...it tasted wonderfully and it was nice and fluffy...so I don't know what went wrong...but it was very sad! luckily, we have lots and lots and lots of chocolate chips and I have lots of pumpkin left, so maybe I'll make some again.

Anyway, school is okay except I'm getting worried about these papers. What am I going to do? They're so open-ended it's difficult to come up with something...and lots of people have topics that are kind of based on discussions in class, but I don't want to do that, I want to be unique! So it's a long process of figuring out what I want to do.

Well, that's all I can think of right now. Oh, Mary Beth, Ruth and Jordan...do you want to come over for dinner on Sunday?

First Injury!

So, I scored my first injury last night!!! I was playing soccer with a bunch of friends and my friend and I were running towards each other and we kind of collided (he had the ball, and I wanted it...need I say more?) His knee basically smashed into my thigh (and it felt like it had gored it) and then I could not even run on it for the rest of the night! So I went home after like 20 minutes (but waited to cry until I left the grass, of course, so no one even knew how bad it hurt....it was a sad walk home!). But my roommates took very good care of me and gave me lots of ibuprofen and ice (I iced it so much that it pretty much lost feeling in that spot!) Anyway, I couldn't really even bend my leg cause it hurt so bad. Last night there was what felt like a huge muscle knot right in the middle of my thigh and it was really hard! It's still kind of there today, but not as bad...it just kind of aches but really only hurts when I go up and down stairs. Anyway, I can walk today! And it's all fairly well for the most part....kind of.....but I didn't have to go to the ER!

I don't know if I really have that much left to write about...still trying to think of the perfect paper topics...I can't think of anything that has really shaped my life! I thought today about growing up in a pre-dominantly non-LDS community and how that has shaped me, but I don't know if that's too broad? don't really know....but even if that would work, I still have two more paper topics to go!!

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

I would just like to say that five minutes includes the thought time that it takes for me to think of what I'm going to say as I type it. And I am a super fast typist, you don't even know. Anyway, this one is going to be the bare minimum, cause I have lots of homework to do in the next few hours (and I'm a freshman so I should be allowed to have fun in the evening--so I want to have my homework done before dinner--which I kind of already had...but I'll say in the next 2 or 3 hours. Anyway, I've basically been doing lots and lots of writing, and then I suddenly have three papers that are due in the next couple weeks that are very open-ended--like the most open-ended a paper could even get. Which is good, I guess, cause then I can choose something that I like, but....I still don't want to figure out what I'm doing. (Oh, and for Writing we have to do a 4-6 page personal narrative, and I have no idea what topic or story I can write about for 4-6 pages that I like and would be fun to write about---so family, please help out! My memory of my childhood and recent years is not the most amazing, so I need some prodding!)

In other news, I am very sad because the weather is being very tricky today. It keeps pretending to rain, and then staying overcast all day while not really raining at all--so I couldn't study under my tree today! I read for like 10 minutes, and then it started to rain (kind of)....sad day. Anyway, I was going to play volleyball tonight, so I'm hoping that my homework is done and that the weather starts cooperating again. So, that's five minutes of my day!

Five Minutes

So, my writing teacher is requiring us to write in a journal at least five minutes every day, and blogs can count! Anyway, it is very late here, so I'm only going to write for five minutes....today I had a very good day! Classes were good, I got a free hot dog on Brigham Square, I bought stamps, and certain boys here are very cute and adorable. My foam mattress is currently slightly sliding to the right...maybe that means i should wash my sheets? I don't think so....not yet. Tomorrow I only have two classes, which is good! And we have our first devotional, which I am very excited for! And apparently, college professors like to assign papers without assigning topics....at least, Dr. Griggs hasn't told us much so far...I've only heard about it from other people! We'll see how that goes....Anyway, five minutes are up, and I've very tired, so I'm going to sleep! Good night!

It's Getting Warmer!

Yesterday and today have both been pretty nice weather-wise so far. And I'm getting all of my homework done before dinner so far, and that makes me very happy! (well, last night wasn't so soon, but I'm still not staying up quite as late as other people in the family are--yay for being a freshman!) Yesterday I had an interview with the bishop and got hinted to about a calling but I still haven't gotten it yet--I'm really excited for it! I really love our ward--we have really amazing people in it, and it's so nice to have them all really close! When we're done with our homework, we basically walk across the sidewalk to Young and then go around asking for people that want to play games. It turned out very well last night, we had a lot of fun (although I forgot all the people that I had asked to play earlier when I was sitting under my tree--oh well). I also spent my first money of my meal plan on some ice cream last night--it was delicious.

I love going to the sports games here--soccer is a lot of fun and football is fun for the first bit until we fall asleep. I'm having such a great time and I love school so far (we'll see how long it lasts). I'm just trying to develop a really positive attitude about all of my classes, because I know that when I really like classes then I do a lot better in them. So far I'm doing well, I just have to keep it up for the whole semester. I'm almost half done with my health class lessons already! yay!!

I'm making lots of friends and it's great to have people that have the same standards and know what you're talking about when you make any reference to church and who want to sing hymns late at night when we're walking home. That makes me happy!

Thanks Mom and Dad for sending me to such a great school--it is amazing and I know that I will learn a lot! I love the classes, the campus, the mountains and the people and I am having a great time!

I miss my family!

So, I was playing sardines tonight and was hiding under a huge fir tree-Dad called and instead of talking to him like I want to now, I kept playing (and it took them forever to find us, go figure) Anyway, so I got back tonight and then my roommates started talking about their families and I was like, "Noooo! Don't start that!" Cause I don't really get homesick yet, except kind of at night, but I usually fall right asleep, so it doesn't last long! Anyway, I'm still having a fun time!

Pen and the Sword was fun! Somehow the book list didn't make it onto the internet and the class was mortified when they found out there are around 10 books to get. But Dr. Griggs is going to teach us some Greek! yay! it should be very exciting! Tomorrow I have my writing class, surviving and thriving at BYU (whatever that is) and my physical science (which i'm worried about, but i have a cute friend who is good at physics :)---and i've discovered that there is no end to the amount of cute and fun boys in our ward--but my roommates don't seem to want to take as much advantage of it as i do--maybe they're just used to Mormon boys...)

Anyway, I'm excited for tomorrow and feeling less homesick now, so maybe there will be a lot more postings on this blog now! Two in one day is good! Oh and we haven't gotten mail in a few days :( :( :(.

But I was so amazing at studying today! I worked so hard on all of my work in between classes and then I came home and worked under my tree outside Young Hall (which resulted in several boys over for dinner and hanging out with more of them later--pleasant surprise for my roommates). Anyway, I was so proud of my studying habits today! It felt so good to work soooooo hard earlier and then be done before dinner so that I could go play games tonight! (and not feel sorry for all the procrastinators that couldn't play games and will be up late tonight) Anyway, I had lots of fun today with my school work and I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

IT'S SOOO COLD!!!

Sunday it was warm and nice and the sun was shining--yesterday it rained/hailed all day (which was nice) and then became freezing cold. This morning walking to class, I could see people's breath. I had to wear a coat. I barely got a chance to wear my knee-length shorts. Our bedrooms are also freezing.

But fall is coming (a little too soon) but it will be okay. Yesterday on the walk to the soccer game, I shouted, "It feels like Halloween!" and someone was like, "No it doesn't, Elise...." and I was like, "You're right. In Michigan, it snows on Halloween".

Anyway, my first class was fun! It was BOM and we didn't really do anything other than go over the syllabus, but the professor seems cool and just by using a few examples I think I learned more than I did in the whole last year of seminary! The good thing is, he went over the few assignments we're going to have and the "hardest" one (so he said) is basically what I did all year in junior year History! Evaluate five sources (of the ten for my paper)--so really I'm just doing the origins, purpose, value, and limitations of each source. I hated doing it in highschool, but now it seems nothing! So thank you Mrs. Johnson!

Anyway, I'm working on my health class right now in the Honors Reading Room in the Maeser Building, and I'm excited to eat my little packed lunch in a few hours. So I've got to go, but that was an update!
